Whale sharks have thousands of tiny teeth, each less than 6mm,arranged in more than 300 rows but they feed by taking water into their mouths and straining the food through their gills. They can open their mouths to a huge width.
Located at Exmouth on Western Australia's Coral Coast, Three Islands Whale Shark Dive is a marine eco-adventure tour company with a focus on excellence in customer service, satisfaction and safety. We specialize in whale shark snorkel adventure tours on Ningaloo Reef between mid-March and end of July.
Three Islands have been proud finalists in the Western Australian Tourism Awards for the last nine years running and medal winners on seven occasions, an achievement we are very proud of.
Established in 1997 the business is certified by the National Tourism Accreditation Program (WA) and Eco-certified Ecotourism accreditation.
It is our aim to educate and share our knowledge and understanding of the whale sharks and marine life of Ningaloo Reef with those who join us. Our friendly and experienced staff love to share their knowledge of the marine environment while ensuring each tour is fun, safe and informative.
From courtesy pick-up to drop-off your tour includes everything – delicious meals, high quality snorkel gear and wetsuits, a complimentary photo CD, support from friendly qualified staff, EXCLUSIVE spotter plane to locate whale sharks and, very importantly, a safety support vessel in the water at all times.
A maximum of 20 guests can participate in the tour, with ten snorkelers in the water at a time with a whale shark.
A photographer is on board to capture the day and creates a daily complimentary Photo CD as a lasting memento of your whale shark experience ready for pick up from our office the following morning (1 CD per booking group - additional CDs can be arranged upon request at no extra charge).
Non-swimming observers are also welcome aboard the comfortable 17 metre vessel with its large shaded deck area and cushioned seating. Observers are welcome to participate in the reef snorkels at no extra cost and upgrades to the whale shark swim can be made on board.
All guests are welcome to participate in Ecocean's photo ID program by submitting "their" whale shark to the Ecocean whale shark library for identification. Interpretive material on whale sharks is readily available for guests to learn more about whale sharks and the knowledgeable staff, who have all participated in the Department of Parks and Wildlife Whale Shark Interaction Course, are more than happy to share information and answer questions on whale sharks and the marine environment.
As part of our ongoing commitment to the environment, in partnership with Carbon Neutral, 3 Islands now contributes 10 native trees to an ongoing planting programme for every tour we conduct.
Along with a number of other sustainable practices used in our daily operations, this is just another step towards best practice as Australia's number one whale shark tour company.
